When Time Dies

$0.00

In the world of the Heptarchy, scientists understand time. They have unravelled its mysteries. They know why it moves, how it works, what it is—to the point that they can even calculate vague predictions about the future. But when science, religion, and government are all intertwined as one, these predictions take on the double roll of scientific theories and religious tools politicians use to push their own agendas. Two hundred years after a devastating conflict brought all nations together under one government, world peace is the status quo. The government assures its citizens that if any disturbance ever came to topple it, the chronologists themselves have predicted that three brave individuals will rise to the challenge and restore stability and peace. What could anyone possibly have to worry about? So when Malcolm Tarcain, a talented young warrior, graduates from training and launches into a promising career alongside with his best friend Averil Dale, an anxiously brilliant physicist studying time, he thinks he knows where his life is taking him. However, it isn’t long before they realize that all is not as blissful in the government as it might seem. Matters come to a head when Averil’s lab makes a terrifying discovery that could threaten the very existence of humanity. In the aftermath, Averil and Malcolm are faced with the question: what do you do when the world you thought you would live in for the rest of your life is falling apart around you? How do you make the people in power listen to your pleas for justice and sanity? And at what point (if ever) is it morally justifiably to resort to violence?
